Cheap photography accessories / photographic gift suggestions
Photography as a hobby can be expensive but it does not have to be, which is great news for people looking to get a camera related gift for a photography obsessed acquaintance. I have put together a little list of cheap camera accessories and photography-related items. Everything on the list is under £14 ($20). For your convenience I have added links to Amazon’s UK and US sites for most of the items. If you wanted to spend a little more you could of course look at some of my books or prints. You could of course go crazy and send someone on one of my photo courses, but if you budget won’t stretch that check out my bargain suggestions below:
Lomo LC-Wide hands on review
On May 19th 2011 Lomography released the Lomo LC-Wide or Lomo LC-W for short. I’ve had the camera for 24 hours and I have shot one roll of film and have had it developed and I’m now ready to pass on my opinion.
Review of Everyday for the iPhone
For the past 2 months I have been using a little iPhone application called Everyday. The app was inspired by photographer Noah Kalina, and I first heard about it after attending a talk by Noah. Noah is best known for taking a picture of himself everyday for the past 11 years. You can see the first 5 years of his project in this YouTube video, which has been viewed almost 20 million times.
When you first start using Everyday there is not much to write home about, but after a while you will start to love it! The premise is simple; take a photo of yourself at regular intervals. Once you have enough, you can make a time-lapse video of your self, creeping towards the grave. I have mine set to prompt me 3 times a day at 9AM, 12PM and 9PM. You can set it to prompt you as much or as little as you want.

Pummelvision is dead simple, it pulls up the last 2500 of you latest images from either your Flickr, Facebook or Tumbler account and then makes them into a video which is either sent to Vimeo or YouTube. Check out my Pummelvision video here. Continue reading
