Create in Brighton winners announced at Coalition

The first “Create in Brighton” prize winners were announced on March 29th by judges Lawrence Zeegen and myself, live on stage at Coalition. Create in Brighton was a creative competition that has been running since the beginning of the year. Hundreds of entries from people with a connection to Brighton were whittled down to thirty finalists by Lawrence Zeegen, Sarah Arnett and myself.

Entries included a real broad mix of work from illustration, graphic design and photography. The thirty semi finalists were put on display around the city where the public were asked to vote for their favorites, this then cut down the number of semi finalists to ten finalists, from this three winners were picked by the panel of judges.

Below are the three winning pieces of the competition:

1st place Matt Stokes

1st place Matt Stokes

Sleepwalking

2nd place Alex Bamford

3nd place Jack Sheen

3nd place Jack Sheen

It was a great night from beginning to end, the awards ceremony was followed by a performance from Ghost Poet. I can say with some confidence that everybody that attended the night had a great time. It was a real honer to be involved in a competition with two great judges. It was also refreshing to be involved in a competition that did not charge people to enter and had substantial cash prizes, this was down to the sponsorship of Tiger Beer.
