I have written a new book: Toy Cameras / Fantastic Plastic Cameras

After finishing my 2nd book on the 24th of March 2010 work started on Toy Cameras less than a month later. Toy Cameras was then finished in 4 months, just after I had the book launches for Photo Op / 52 Photographic Projects. Because most toy cameras require good lighting conditions for shooting I shot most of the photos for the book in Sunny Barcelona and California (it’s a hard life). I had not used some of the cameras in the book before, so to make sure they there where the best examples of what the cameras can do in the book, there are photos from 42 other contributors. The book serves as a guide to what different toy cameras are good for are what there particular quirks are. You can read more about what the book is about here.

At the moment it’s just out in the UK as “Toy Cameras” but in May it will be released as “Fantastic Plastic Cameras” in the US (amazon US link). You can get signed copies from me at the same price that amazon UK is selling them (£12.49 normal price £14.99) with free UK shipping for a limited time only! I will also ship anywhere in the world, more details here.

I have not got any book launches planed this time round as I have already got loads on what with all the talks and courses I have planed. But if you’re in Brighton and you want to get a book I will be attending Andy Wilson’s and Andrew White’s talk at Add the Colour (Brighton) this Thursday evening. If you’re going to that event and you should if you are into photography! You can get a book from me. After the talk (8:30ish) a group usually ends up in the Foundry Pub on Foundry Street as well. If you think you might want to get one email me at lomokev@yahoo.co.uk so I know to bring one for you.

Hope you see you at Andy Wilson’s and Andrew White’s talk and/or at one of my upcoming talks.

Lomography will be very happy to see you put a Fisheye #2 on the cover!…Have you asked if they will stock it?

London lomo where very supportive when I was doing the book but I don’t think that would stock it as they make far more money selling there own books that anyone elses as they print there own books. Also it mentions all the competitors products to!

While i agree you couldnt create this book without mentioning the LOMO LC-A, I’m sure you’ll agree it’s a serious tool in the right hands.

With the LCA I say that its not really toy but it was what help kick start the toy camera craze so I had to mention it!

I really enjoyed your last book Kev, and I’m still using it to inspire my filmy experiments. i might have to wait to get your new book as I suspect it will encourage me to buy more cameras, and my bank balance won’t like me expanding my camera colleciton any further!

My Gf & I have Hot Shots & 52 Photographic Projects, both of which I occasionally pick up and devour (Seriously, I’ve never known a book that I can pick up and happily read cover to cover 3 times in one week!). Your Toy Cameras book should have been delivered today, so I very much look forward to having a good flick through it (in my own time!)

    Hello there,

I live in San Francisco and can’t find your two books here.
I search amazon and everything and can’t get a hold of them. Do you happen to know which bookstore carry them?

    Thanks
