Barnes and Noble have spotlighted my book, Hot Shots, on their website. It’s in the form of a video witch looks more like an infomercial than a review. In case you are wondering how I found this it was not though ego surfing, I am far too busy for that. I found it out from Google alerts it’s the best way to keep track of what people are saying about you online.
In reference to what is said in the video I would just like to point out that the images in Hot Shots are not organized by color, that was an idea when I first started putting the book together but I soon realized that it would be impossible. I would also like to point out that most of my photos are not blurred!
If you want to see an accurate representation of what my book is like, you can check out the video below or you can download a 16 page PDF sample. Hot shots is currently being reprinted after selling out its 2nd UK print run and 1st US print run. After being printed in China they are placed on the slowest boat in the world, so currently one of the only places to get a copy of Hot Shots at the cover price is from me. If you want one hurry as I only have 9 left! If you would like a copy my PayPal address is kevin@analogintelligence.co.uk. If you are worried whether you can trust me just check my eBay feed back profile, if you can’t trust good old lomokev who can you trust? When you pay me on PayPal make sure you leave instructions on who you would like the book signed to. If you don’t have a PayPal account you can send me a good old fashioned cheque, just e-mail me on info@lomokev.com and we can arrange it.
As you are reading my blog I imagine you probably already have a copy of “hot shots” but have you considered inspiring your friends and family with a personalized signed copy? I’m feeling festive so I am offering a little deal for Christmas, there will be a postage charge on the first copy of hot shots that you order but any subsequent orders will be free postage and I’m offering a free gift-wrapping service, useful if you want the book mailed directly to your receiver – do include a personal message to be attached to the gift.
The books are £12.99 + shipping on the first copy ordered
UK shipping £2.50
Europe £4.00
Rest of the world £7.69
Want something a little more special?
I am also selling prints to order, you can choose from my suggested images below or simply choose an image from my flickr stream. The best place to start looking may be the set of my favorite images here. Posting frames in the mail with glass is quite risky so I don’t tend to do it, but if you are local to brighton and want a framed print get in touch.
size 1: 23.3cm x 19.3cm £25
size 2: 34cm x 24cm £40
size 3: 50cm x 33cm £95
Postage charges as above (same cost as the book)

Rock Cakes
Finally, last but not at all least, my wife, Rock Cake, has been super busy with her jewellery production, she’s been making rockets and astronauts, tiny birds and silver clouds to her hearts content. Her prices start at just £17 and are all perfectly packaged.
If you are in Brighton then you can visit her at the fashion fair taking place at Fabrica, Duke Street on Saturday 12th December 10am – 7pm or on Sunday 13th 11am – 5pm. Entry is free and there’ll be lots to see.
If you can’t make it to Brighton then just check out her crazy cute website and drop her a line if you are interested in any of her work or if you want to join her mailing list: info@rockcakes.com.
About to leave the US currently waiting for my flight home. Had a blast at Phoot camp. I had grate fun running my Hot Shots photography courses in San Fransisco. Thanks to everyone who turned up to my book signings / talks. Until next time keep it real.
Phoot Camp went really well, I met loads of really super talented photographers. Once I have a complete list of all their names and Urls, I will post them here. Still feel really jaded after only having 1 hour sleep before I left the UK and then having a 27 hour journey from my door to the camp site! The journey when tits up from the point I got to Heathrow. My plane’s takeoff was delayed by one and a half hours and then because of head winds and bad weather it got to Houston three and half hours late. I missed my connecting flight and then the flight after that because I was given someone else’s boarding pass. My original flight out of Houston was meant to leave at 2pm and I ended up getting out on the 7pm. I have managed to soldier though with four hours sleep a night, last night I got about five. This is why I look a little jaded in the above portrait.
For some reason four of the Phoot campers including me thought it would be a good idea to stay one more night at the camp. This turned out not to be such a great idea as our camp was attacked by raccoons in the night, so not much sleep once again. I got back to San Fransisco at midday with only a few hours to get ready for my talk at the Booksmith. It went well apart from the when people asked complicated questions in the Q&A and I replied “I don’t know I’m tired”. Thanks to all who turned up and a big thanks to the Booksmith, Heather Champ and Derick Powsak for helping to organize the event.
If you missed the Booksmith signing and talk there is also going to be a 2nd book signing at Chronicle Books on Thursday the 15th of October at 6–8pm. There will be wine and nibbles too. It will be more of a meet the author low key type of affair.
Chronicle Books is at:
680 Second Street
San Fransisco
CA 94107
I am also running my photography course twice while I’m in town, once on Thursday 15th to Friday 16th of October and then Saturday 17th to Sunday 18th of October. The cost is $295 for 2 days. There is one place left on both, for more info on the course check the Hot Shots course page. I leave for San Fransisco on Friday morning at stupid O’clock. First stop on my vist will be to Phoot Camp for the weekend. Phoot Camp is a gathering of 50 photographers from all over where we get together and get creative. Results of Phoot Camp will appear on the Phoot Camp website once its over.
On Monday the 12th at 7:30pm I will be given a short talk and signing copys of Hot Shots at the Book Smith. The talk is called “From casual snapper to published author, a tale of flickr, shoes and serendipity”. If you are worried that I am going to bore the paints off you Flickr has kindly offered to provide wine and nibbles for everyone, this should help ease yourself into my talk.

I have been Invited to attend a Phoot Camp in San Francisco By Laura Miner and Cody Austin. I don’t have many details yet but I think it should be quite interesting. After the Camp I have deiced to stick around San Francisco for a week so that I can hold a book signing and maybe a talk. The most exciting thing is that I will be bringing my photography course to the US for the 1st time. The last course in Brighton attracted silverfox69 from liverpool who had to travel 269 miles but he was topped by topfloor who came all the way from Kassel in Germany just a mere 500 miles. So I am hoping that if I come all the way from the UK a few of you will want to come and sample my photographic knowledge!
The key dates for there trip are:
[UPDATE] Monday 12th of October 7:30pm Book signing / talk at the Booksmith more details here.
Thursday 15th and Friday 16th of October teaching Hot Shots Course.
Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th of October teaching Hot Shots Course.
Both Courses are the same it’s just that I like to keep the class sizes at 8 and seeing as there are a few people who live in San Francisco I would like to make sure that there is enough room for people who want to do the course.
To find out more about the course check my Hot Shots course page. To be updated on my plans for San Francisco Keep and eye on this blog (you can subscribe to the RSS feed here) and follow me on twitter.

When you pay me on PayPal make sure you leave instructions on who you would like the book signed to. If you don’t have a PayPal account you can send me a good old fashioned cheque, just e-mail me on info@lomokev.com and we can arrange it.
