I have been doing a lot of public speaking recently and am about to give my first talk in London on the 14th March which is odd as I have spoken all across the UK and given a few talks in the US, but this will be my first in London. I also have put together quite a few presentations for MiniClick at short notice, so I am a dab hand at Keynote as well. Because of this I feel I have gained experience with public speaking to the point where I can offer advice to others who are about to get up in front of a crowd. Some of the advice in this tutorial is geared towards Apple’s Keynote. Keynote is Apple’s version of PowerPoint, if you have Mac and don’t have Keynote, get it now as it’s only £13.99. This is not a Keynote tutorial so if you are PC-using-PowerPoint fan, the information in this post will still be relevant to you.

Jim Stephenson has put my 76 minute MiniCLick talk online for your viewing pleasure. The talk is about the photographers that I find interesting and inspirational. I spoke about a mix of photographers from people I know to famous shooters from the past and present. If you want to discover more from any of the photographers work mentioned I have put links to all of them in this blog post.
While on the subject of talks there are loads of MiniClick related talks coming up and I will be speaking at the Margate photography festival in mid August. More details below.
A new series of MiniClick talks have started at Add the Colour in Brighton. Last week it was Erika Szostak who gave a talk. Instead of just talking about her work she spoke about the relationship between the photographic image and accompanying text. It’s quite often that you see an image and it might not mean much until you know about it’s context. It’s quite common to see great images posted on flickr and tumbler with no explanation of what they are about and I find it really frustrating. When ever I upload images I always give the images titles, tags and most of the time I will add a description if its needed.
