May is shaping up to be a really busy month already, especially where the weekends are concerned and it’s all because of the Brighton Festival and Brighton Fringe. I have two exhibitions on one at an open house in Kemptown and one at the Old Market in Hove.

Life and Leisure in Shoreham by Sea

Life and Leisure is an exhibition by Justin Sainsbury and Andrew Barns being held in an empty shop in Shoreham by Sea. On show is a 100 frameless prints captured around the south of England.

Justin visited a number of ‘niche’ hobby events across the South of England like Deadwood – a western pioneer town in a wood just off the A24 and War and Peace Show near Paddocks Wood witch is the largest World War Two vehicle living history event in the world. He documents the the assuming situations that present themselves when the 1940s collude with the 21st century like a Nazi hanging by the waltzers. Continue reading →

Martin Parr’s Black Country Stories

There are only a few more weeks left to check out Martin Parr’s new show Black Country Stories at The Public in West Bromwich (Birmingham). I was lucky enough to be invited to the private view. Being in West Bromwich I was expecting something low key because the last Parr show I had been invited to was at a working mans club in Cardif. This was not the case, The Public is a huge super modern gallery / arts facility. Its a pretty big exhibition and worth travailing to, I came 140 miles and I thought it was well worth it.

Christmas Open House 2010

After the successes of our 2010 summer open house the dynamic trio that is Rockcakes, Partly Obscured and myself are putting together another open house for the Christmas period. Our open house will be on for the next 3 weekends: Nov 27th – 28th and Dec 4th – 5th and 11th – 12th. We will be open from 11am to 6pm.

We will be having a not so private view with a few drinks on Wednesday, 1st of December from 6pm to 9pm. Continue reading →
