Mini Click talk at Old Market Theatre Hove

On Thursday the 5th of July I will be giving a Mini Click talk in the Bar of the newly refurbished Old Market Theatre, the doors open at 6pm and the talk starts 7pm. This is a change of venue for the Mini Click talks as sadly Mini Click’s home for the past year Add The Colour is closing down. Dan (Add The Colour’s owner) has for the past year been a staunch supporter of everything Brighton Photography related. It was not just the Mini Click talks that where held there but other talks, workshops and numerous exhibitions. Just over a year ago my 2nd book was launched there when it first opened so have very happy memories of the cafe. I am sure, like me, all the Brighton photo massive will wish Dan all the best with what he dose next.

This Thursday I won’t be giving my usual talk because the way I figure it the people of Brighton are probably sick of hearing about me. I will be giving a complete new talk about the work of other photographers that interest and inspire me. These Photographers will range from famous photographers, internet celeb shooters and some offline photographers that unless you met you might not of heard of.

If you think that you are coming it would be really helpful if you could RSVP on this Facebook event page as that will let the Old Market know if they need any extra bar staff. Continue reading

My upcoming talks in Brighton, Bath and Cardiff

I have given quite a few talks over the past 2 years, some to big groups and some to small, I always find it an enjoyable experience whether it has been at Google’s HQ or a local Camera Club. Because of this I am pleased to announce a set of talks in the upcoming months. These talks are not just me listing my achievements so far as a photographer but about my influences and my techniques in certain areas. I hope to see you at one of these talks if you can make it.

New MiniClick talks for 2011

A new series of MiniClick talks have started at Add the Colour in Brighton. Last week it was Erika Szostak who gave a talk. Instead of just talking about her work she spoke about the relationship between the photographic image and accompanying text. It’s quite often that you see an image and it might not mean much until you know about it’s context. It’s quite common to see great images posted on flickr and tumbler with no explanation of what they are about and I find it really frustrating. When ever I upload images I always give the images titles, tags and most of the time I will add a description if its needed.
