Brighton Photo Fringe business: MiniClick talk, Tim Andrews Over the Hill Exhibition and The Shot I Never Forgot
The Brighton Biannual and companion Photo Fringe festival are now in full swing. I’ve not got any stand alone shows in this years festival but I have images in two group shows and I am speaking at a MiniClick event. Combined the Biannual and Photo Fringe is a massive photography festival and would be well worth a trip to Brighton from London and further afield. If you are from London and this post does not tempt you down I recommend you go to ‘Make Life Worth Living‘ and ‘Open for Business‘ at the Media Space at the London Science Museum.

For those of you that don’t know MiniClick has been organising free photography talks in Brighton and further afield since 2010. I have had the pleasure of speaking at MiniClick on several occasions. So it’s with great pride that I can tell you that my work will be published along with 4 other photographers in the first set of photo books. They will launch on June the 25th at the Old Market in Hove.

The Frank Hurley a portrait I wished I’d taken
At the last MiniClick along with nine other photographers I gave a five minute talk on a portrait I wished I’d taken. The format was that each speaker had five minutes and were only allowed to show the image they were talking about. For a little more context, I thought I would show some of the other images I referred to in my talk in this blog post. MiniClick has a blog post where you can see see the list of the photographers that were speaking with an example of there work plus the photo they were talking about here. After talking to some of the other speakers I found that I was in a minority in that no portrait had immediately sprung to mind for me like it had for them. After some thought I decided to talk about Frank Hurley’s 1915 portrait of John Vincent, The Bosun of the ship the Endurance.
The portrait theme was due to MiniClick launching their second publication which theme is portraiture. You grab a copy here but hurry it’s a limited edition of 200!

Paris Samsung NX speed event
A few weeks ago I was in Paris for the Samsung NX speed event. I was there following some Facebook voting after a similar event I attended in the UK. I’d just like to say thanks for all the people that voted for me, without your votes I would not have been there! It was a fun filled three days where we got see Usain Bolt sprint and DJ, check out racing at Le Mans and see the sights of Paris (check out the photos below). As well as all the Parisian fun we also got the chance to see some of Samsung’s new camera products which you can read about here. All the photos below were taken on a Samsung NX300 (read my NX300 review).
