Organising a photo library with Lightroom
Having a well-organised photo library is essential, especially as your collection of photographs grows. I’ve had a few organisation schemes over the past 13 years and by a little trial and error I have found what works for me. The following advice is geared towards Lightroom, but the theory can be put into practice with any application that allows to you organise images into folders.

Cheap photography accessories / photographic gift suggestions
Photography as a hobby can be expensive but it does not have to be, which is great news for people looking to get a camera related gift for a photography obsessed acquaintance. I have put together a little list of cheap camera accessories and photography-related items. Everything on the list is under £14 ($20). For your convenience I have added links to Amazon’s UK and US sites for most of the items. If you wanted to spend a little more you could of course look at some of my books or prints. You could of course go crazy and send someone on one of my photo courses, but if you budget won’t stretch that check out my bargain suggestions below:

Interviewed by the BBC about 20 years of Lomography
I have been interviewed by the BBC’s online magazine for an article that coincides with the 20th anniversary of Lomography. It’s quite nice to see that another Brighton photographer, Toby Mason, has also been interviewed for the piece; Brighton represent! The article was written by Stephen Dowling, the same journalist that interviewed me on the subject of Instagram in April this year. You can read the BBC’s Lomography article here and I thought it would be nice to post my responses to Stephen’s questions in full in case you’re curious to read more.
Watch my BLAB online
Last month I did a little northern tour; I spoke at BLAB in Manchester and then at the White Cloth gallery for Exposure Leeds the following night. Both nights I spoke about my work and the Manchester talk is now online. If you are ever up that neck of the woods I strongly recommend you check out BLAB if it’s on and that you check out the White Cloth gallery in Leeds too. I’d like to thank Exposure Leeds and BLAB for bringing me up there and all the people that came to both events.

Phoot Camp coming to Brighton with an exhibition and talk
As part of the Brighton Photo Fringe Festival MiniClick is bringing a slice of Phoot Camp to Brighton in the form of an exhibition and talk. Phoot Camp is an invite-only photography retreat where photographers get together for a few days and create new work. It’s been held in San Francisco, LA, Marfa (Texas) and upstate New York. I have been lucky enough to attend three of the four camps. I have met some amazingly creative people at Phoot so I am really proud to bring a little slice of the camp to Brighton for the Photo Fringe.

lomokev unlocked by O2 over a weekend
I recently spent the weekend with a film crew from O2’s Guru YouTube channel. They are making a set of films about different creative people and how mobile technology fits into there life. I am the second person they shot, the first was trainer designer / customizer Daniel Reese, check out his film here. They filmed me as I documented an average weekend in Brighton which culminating in me putting up a photo montage on a beach hut. If what goes on on the video looks fun to you, you might want to check out one of my weekend photography courses so you can join the fun.
