Lomo LC-Wide hands on review
On May 19th 2011 Lomography released the Lomo LC-Wide or Lomo LC-W for short. I’ve had the camera for 24 hours and I have shot one roll of film and have had it developed and I’m now ready to pass on my opinion.
Local legends pictory show case
I have an image of my friend Dave in a new Pictroy show case called “Local Legends“. If you had to describe Dave in one word it would have to be legend. If you want to know why he is a legend check out the text that accompanies the image in the show case. You may recognise him as he appears in my Flickr stream multiple times.
New Flickr home page images
Flickr have redesigned their landing page, they have selected a new set of images that are displayed at random when you go to their homepage. I am luckily enough to have two of my images included! To see the changes you have to log out of flickr as they are on the opening page. I had an image on the homepage before and it gave me quite a bit of exposure so it will be interesting to see what happens this time round.
Review of Everyday for the iPhone
For the past 2 months I have been using a little iPhone application called Everyday. The app was inspired by photographer Noah Kalina, and I first heard about it after attending a talk by Noah. Noah is best known for taking a picture of himself everyday for the past 11 years. You can see the first 5 years of his project in this YouTube video, which has been viewed almost 20 million times.
When you first start using Everyday there is not much to write home about, but after a while you will start to love it! The premise is simple; take a photo of yourself at regular intervals. Once you have enough, you can make a time-lapse video of your self, creeping towards the grave. I have mine set to prompt me 3 times a day at 9AM, 12PM and 9PM. You can set it to prompt you as much or as little as you want.

Texas here I come. yeeHa!
Its Phoot Camp time again and Pictory Mag recently announced 2011 attendees. If you don’t know what Phoot Camp is you can check out my previous posts about here and yours truly is in the line up again!
As part of 2011 application process potential Phoot campers had to submit a self portrait. I have been having a bit of a crazy time lately so only realized the deadline was 36 hours away after giving a talk in London! That evening and in the following morning (in golden hour loveliness) I set about shooting a few self self portraits. I shot 2 montage portraits on my Lomo LCA of my self witch are an evolution of my other montage portraits. A collage of different self portraits on different backgrounds and a 2 digital shots. I submitted the montage shot below but in hindsight think I prefer the topless one.
Check the shot I submitted and the ones I did not below. Click on the images below to be taken to the respective Flickr pages.
Brighton exhibitions in May
May is shaping up to be a really busy month already, especially where the weekends are concerned and it’s all because of the Brighton Festival and Brighton Fringe. I have two exhibitions on one at an open house in Kemptown and one at the Old Market in Hove.
April trend spotting
The April issue of Brighton Source Magazine is out now which means it’s once again time to check out my street style section. At the moment the mag is only showing one of my montage shots as the street style section is one page so the only place to see all the shots is on my blog and my montage portrait flickr set.
Advanced Photographer Magazine and other press
As well as my monthly spot in Brighton Source magazine, I have a little how-to article in the April issue of Advanced Photographer magazine (UK). It’s an article on how to shoot unique portraits, they have covered my montage portraits. It’s the current issue, see it and read more on my blog or just go and buy the mag. It is in W H Smiths or the other usual outlets.
